Within the CrowdStream activities for defining regional crowdfunding strategies and action plans, a workshop on “Crowdfunding for Social Enterprises and NGOs” took place on November 17, 2017 in Vienna. Mr. Horst Harlacher from the Austrian platform respekt.net, a specialized crowdfunding portal for social initiatives, provided first-hand knowledge on the topics. 18 participants from NGOs and social initiatives in the energy, technical, cultural and social area contributed to a lively discussion. Working at a platform with projects for strengthening civil society, Mr. Harlacher provided insights on related crowdfunding activities in Austria and practical information for successful campaigning. Following several presentations of current projects and exchanged experience on successful campaigns the workshop concluded in the discussion of actual needs and proposals for targeted actions to improve the access to crowdfunding for innovative NGOs.
