MOVECO - Successful stakeholder forum and partner meeting in Osijek

15-12-2017

“What are the opportunities and challenges related to the transition towards a circular economy?”

This was one the questions, which was discussed at MOVECO’s first stakeholder meeting, that took place in Osijek on December 6, 2018. About 50 participants from ten Danube countries with various background discussed about different aspects of circular economy. Organised as a so-called world café forum, each participant could join each of three thematic workshops regarding consumers, producers and producer responsibility organisations. Host was MOVECO’s Croatian partner Tera Tehnopolis Ltd., a business support organisation and joint-venture of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, the City of Osijek and the Osijek-Baranja County.

The results from the stakeholder meeting serve as a basis for the transnational strategy on circular economy for the Danube region, which will be developed during the project course. This transnational strategy will include different roadmaps for three different regions, according to their current status and needs with regard to circular economy.

Almost exactly one year after the official project start on December 8, 2016, MOVECO’s third partner meeting was realised on December 5 and 6, 2017. The meeting took place in Osijek, Croatia’s fourth largest city. During the meeting, MOVECO’s first year review took place, with a representative from the Joint Secretariat being present. This status meeting was an opportunity to present the project development, including achievements and outcomes, which were realised during the project. Main outcomes of MOVECO’s first year activities were the development of MOVECO’s brochure “Your trash is my treasure”, the presentation of the project's communication materials, the prototype of the exhibition as well as the transnational reports on extended producer responsibility and research and development in circular economy. Moreover, future activities were discussed, planned and scheduled and tasks assigned. The MOVECO partnership is looking forward to the activities, which are foreseen for the second year of promoting circular economy in the Danube region.
