Transdanube.Pearls - First regional workshop on the project organized by the City of Vukovar

On 7 November 2017, the city of Vukovar organized the first regional workshop on the project Transdanube.Pearls. Stakeholder from the tourist boards of the municipalities/city/county of the Pearl region, representatives from bus and railway operators and members of the Associated Strategic Partner, the Panonian sea Ldt. participated in the first workshop.

Subject of the meeting was the presentation of the project, the evaluation of existing sustainable mobility services and the elaboration of new offers in the context of the SRTMP and in cooperation with the relevant stakeholders.

Altogether, the agenda of the workshop included the following issues:

  1. Description of the project
  2. Determination of the Pearl area
  3. Traffic connections in the Pearl (Railyway connection Croatia-Serbia and Croatia-Hungary, Bus connections Croatia-Hungary
  4. Bike carriages, rental bike systems
  5. Railyway connection Zagreb-Vinkovci-Vukovar
  6. Proposed measures in the SRTMP development and stakeholeder contributions/suggestions for other measures
  7. Desired state of the future Pearl
  8. Possibilities for the tourism develpment
  9. Stakeholders' involvement in the project

In the context of the suggested measures for the elaboration of the SRTMP, the stakeholders identified the necessity to analyze the cyclo-tourism in in Vukovar-Srijem and Osijek-Baranja county and to provide further tourist offers such as canoeing, seegways and kayaks.

Besides, the stakeholders approved to sign a cooperation agreement that expresses their willingness and commitment to participate in the project, to be included in the Pearl as a territory/municipality and/or to accept bike carriages on their buses.
