NETWORLD - What we did and what we will do

03-10-2017

Regional Museum of History - Dobrich organized a creative event topic “Bulgaria and the First World War. Places of Memory” with the idea to provoke young people from all over the country to express their knowledge and impressions about their native places and the connection that they have with the WW1. We also did a lot of work on database sets.

First we did some preliminary survey and on our monthly meeting after the discussions we outlined 30 sites - 20 in our region - Dobrudzha and 10 from the other territory of Bulgaria. As a second step we found people and institutions disposed to give us an interview and to supply us with information we still didn't had. We visited several destinations - Silistra, Tutrakan, Karapelit village on the road, Balchik, Zhiten village and Gen.Toshevo. As a result we have more than ten in-deep interviews and a lot of contemporary pictures and gathered data.

Regional museum in Dobrich have also a forthcoming event – Interactive Students Seminar “WW1 Cultural Heritage - Messages and opportunities”. It is planned for the 3rd of October 2017 in Dobrich, Bulgaria. Eight experts will speak about cultural heritage – what we’ve learned and what is it possible to do to keep it. During the event every participant will have the opportunity to write down a message on a white paper martin (the symbol of hope) and to share it. A special play created on one of our great writes’  ‘short stories dedicated to the Great War will be a part of the creative event. Our aim is to provoke young people of thinking and discussing about war, pŠµace and humanity.
