Danube´s Archaeological eLandscapes - Immerse yourself in virtual time travels

05-04-2022

The project's main attraction is the STORIES OF THE PAST - VIRTUAL JOURNEY INTO LOST LANDSCAPES exhibition series. And this will open in the entire Danube region in the following weeks. Our exhibitions allow "time travellers” to take a trip into the past and immerse themselves in the history of the Danube region.

The rich and culturally diverse archaeological record of the Danube region is an essential part of our common cultural heritage. It offers excellent tourism potential but constantly faces the challenge of remaining largely unrecognized. Innovative digital technologies can help with archaeological visualization to experience heritage in a new way and make it accessible to the public in attractive media.

By incorporating Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies, museum visitors are encouraged to get to know the rich archaeological heritage not only in the museum exhibitions but also in the context of the landscapes from which they originate. The primary objective of the project is to make the archaeological landscapes of the Danube region more visible and attractive regionally, nationally, and internationally, via new thematic routes, thus promoting sustainable cultural tourism.

THE EXHIBITION
Our exhibitions allow “time travellers” to take a trip into the past and immerse themselves in the history of the Danube region.

Visitors can explore Palaeolithic caves, Iron Age settlements, Roman villas, or medieval fortresses. Using the latest visualizations created as part of the Danube’s Archaeological eLandscapes project, partners from nine European countries present unique archaeological landscapes from the nations along the Danube River.
