DANUP-2-GAS - NEWSLETTER N.4
The Danube Region holds huge potential for sustainable generation and storage of renewable energy. However, to date this region is highly dependent on energy imports, while energy efficiency, diversity and renewables share are low. In line with the EU climate targets for 2030 and the EUSDR PA2 goals DanuP-2-Gas will advance transnational energy planning by promoting generation and storage strategies for renewables in the Danube Region by coupling the electric power and gas sector.

Welcome to the 4th official newsletter of the DanuP-2-Gas project! At the beginning of July, the project has commenced its third implementation period which will last until the end of the year 2021.
In the last months of the 2nd project period, project partners focused on the continuation of previously started thematic activities. You can find out more about these activities in the previous issue of the newsletter: Read more >>. The focus remained on the development of the Danube Energy Platform and collection of the data on the topics of biomass availability assessment and existing infrastructure for identifying and optimizing sector coupling potentials. All collected data will be the basis for the Transnational Renewable Energy Atlas tool that will be available via the Danube Energy Platform. The project consortium also put attention to Policy assessment and the development of the country reports outlining feasibility and potential legal as well as administrative barriers for implementing investments related to the focus technologies and sectors of DanuP-2-Gas. The Subsidies Catalogue, which will also be available via the platform, is constantly updated with the data input regarding existing support mechanisms specific to their regional and national context.
WE INVITE YOU TO READ THROUGH THE NEWSLETTER FOR MORE INTERESTING INFORMATION.

CREATING SYNERGIES AMONG PROJECTS
On the 9th of June 2021, DanuP-2-Gas was presented at the Interregional Workshop and virtual study visits organized within Interreg Europe project – SHREC SHifting towards Renewable Energy for Transition to Low Carbon Energy. The event was hosted by South Muntenia Regional Development Agency (SMRDA).
The Workshop was organized aiming to enhance the partners’ and stakeholders' knowledge on the specific challenges for global clean renewable energy trends and on Romanian national policies in the field of renewable energy sources, research projects on renewable energy and climate change mitigation. Project partners along with representatives from regional authorities, innovation centers, academia, industry and other stakeholders were present.
Part of the event was focused on creating synergies with other projects in the area of renewable energy, which was a great opportunity for dissemination of the Danup-2-Gas project and attraction of stakeholders interested in the project topic. The DanuP-2-Gas was presented by project communication manager Ms Ines Ahmić from Energy Agency of Savinjska, Šaleška and Koroška Region, Slovenia, and Mr Adelin Lazar from URBASOFIA, Romania.
Creating such synergies among different EU projects is always very beneficial for fostering stakeholders’ cooperation and maximizing project impact. More information about the workshop can be found on the official website of the SHREC project: Read more >>

The role of networking in inNovative projects
As one of the most crucial parts of the Innovative models of management, DanuP-2-Gas project partner from Slovakia - NARA, believes to be collaborative networking. More and more over Europe and in the world is the topic of networking discussed and supported, as only by collaboration we can achieve the biggest goals. For this reason, NARA-SK has chosen the Quintuple helix model of collaboration as a keystone of its approach. What is the Quintuple helix? This framework describes university-industry-government-public-environment interactions within a knowledge economy. It is already acknowledged and adopted by the European Union and all innovative models should work on this principle.
NARA-SK adopts this model and focuses on networking on all levels within the DanuP-2-Gas project as well. Our stakeholders and partners are mostly clusters, cooperatives and education agencies, who have their own networks and thus the information about the project and outputs of the project are shared to a broad audience. Let us introduce you some of the main stakeholders of NARA-SK:
