DANUBE PORTS NETWORK - last milestones achieved

After 30 months of intense work, the DAPhNE consortium met for the last time on 12 June 2019 at thinkport Vienna during the DAPhNE Steering Committee Meeting and Project Final Public Event to share the most important success stories achieved during the project implementation period.

The event brought together 60 participants (industry representatives, port authorities, NGOs, universities) interested to debate and discuss on Danube ports development opportunities. Important progress has been recorded and disseminated in the context of all content-related project activities which touch on topics such as port legislation & funding, port administration & management, port development as well as port strategy & port network formation. danube port development strategy and action plan

Being a “crown” of the entire project, the Danube Port Development Strategy and Action Plan (hereinafter: Strategy), encompassed the inputs from all other work packages and activities through the definition of objectives and measures, as well as their justification. The aim of the activity was to provide a detailed diagnosis of the current “flaws and virtues” of the Danube port industry, determine its place in the future transport and supply chains, and to define the development (strategic) objectives and the accompanying implementation measures.

Over 50 committed representatives of the DAPhNE project partner organisations, along with representatives of relevant public and private stakeholders of the Danube port and waterborne transport community came together on 10 April 2019 in Vienna to celebrate in the framework of DAPhNE project the official launch of the Danube Ports Network (DPN). With this event, the successful work carried out within the framework of the DAPhNE project was acknowledged and one of its successful outputs was introduced to the larger audience, namely the Danube Ports Network (DPN).

The second edition of the Danube Ports Info Day event was organised by Pro Danube and the Port of Enns together will all DAPhNE project partners on 5 June 2019 in the framework of the Munich Logistics Fair.  The event was hosted by the Association of Austrian Ports (IGÖD) and brought together around 60 participants interested to debate and discuss on Danube ports development opportunities. The event meant to promote Danube Ports as logistics & service hubs as well as ideal locations to setting up businesses that need waterborne & intermodal logistics infrastructure

Ambitious DIONYSUS aims to further integrate the Danube Region into Smart & Sustainable Multi-modal & Intermodal Transport Chains

Continuing the good work started within the DAPhNE project, Pro Danube Romania, with the strong support of Pro Danube International and of other Project Partners from the Danube Region, prepared and submitted under the Interreg Danube 3rd Call for Proposals, an Expression of Interest for the project proposal entitled “Integrating Danube Region into Smart & Sustainable Multi-modal & Intermodal Transport Chain – DIONYSUS”. The project’s main objective is to integrate the Danube Region into smart and sustainable, multi-& intermodal transport chains of cargo and passenger flows.

Danube Ports Network : Coming together is the beginning. Working together brings the progress For the Danube Ports Network, the completion of the DAPhNE Project marks the end of its pilot action phase (June 2018 - June 2019) and the beginning of  the start - up phase (July 2019 – June 2022). At this stage we are evaluating our progress and  building upon our past achievements, we are moving forward confidently into the next DPN’s organisational development phase.
