URBforDAN - Come and join us in an escape to the green city lungs

07-02-2019

UPF Danube Network has started now -

to boost international cooperation!

Our lifestyle in cities is fast and intense. Therefore, many citizens and visitors actively search for places to relax, restore and escape the fast pace. Traditionally, they find such a place in urban and peri-urban forests (UPF) – the “green city lungs”.

The URBforDAN project partnership is striving to mobilize key actors in the Danube Region, but takes a step further with establishment of the UPF Danube Network. The network has been created with the help of associated partner FAO with intent to strengthen cooperation between key actors, to ensure timely knowledge and best-practice sharing, dissemination and transferability of project outputs and to enable further capitalization.

A discussion forum for our urban forest

A virtual space - accessible at the link below - is a dedicated URBforDAN discussion forum that will be used to facilitate the management of the different activities to be developed in the framework of this project. In particular, it is designed to offer its members useful documents, reports, photos, presentations and other files and links related to urban forestry or similar topics, created to share information about the project and upcoming relevant events, as well as to initiate group discussions, induce creative ideas etc. Several documents have already been published, and the content will be continuously updated.

With the Network we Ensure transnational networking and exchange of know-how

UPF Danube Network will ensure transnational networking, exchange of know-how and dissemination of multi-use solutions, new approaches and methodologies. This sub-community will identify and jointly develop new opportunities, while capitalizing on existing sustainable development initiatives, projects, networks and interest groups.

By joining the network, members will by the end of the URBforDAN project get access to management tools supporting multi-purpose use of UPF for exploiting new opportunities of sustainable development. Participatory Planning & UPF Management Guidelines will be developed, based on lessons learned and best practices used. The outputs of the URBforDAN project will be shared among the members of the UPF Danube Network to ensure durability, replicability and transferability.
