International Capitalisation Activities

Our Communication manager Oliver Gulas from the project partner Nature and Geopark Styrian Eisenwurzen had the chance to represent our project during theme related international events. In October he was present at the 7th EUSDR Annual Forum in Sofia, Bulgaria together with
Martin Dujčák from our partner university Presov in Slovakia. The Annual Forum covered topics of particular importance for the Danube region related to preservation of cultural and historical heritage, new technologies and digitalization in tourism sector, ensuring safety and security in tourism, transport connectivity and mobility. Issues related to synergy and consistency between macro-regional strategies for achieving the common objectives of the EU and for the future of those strategies after 2020 have been also referred to.

The Danube GeoTour was selected to be labelled as relevant project on culture and/or creative industries for EU Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 (EYCH 2018). The overall objective of the Year was to encourage the sharing and appreciation of Europe’s cultural heritage, to raise awareness of our common history and values, and to reinforce a sense of belonging in a common European space. Again, our Communication manager attended the final events in Vienna, Austria.

Iron Mountain Geopark presenting the Danube GeoTour

Our project partner National Geopark Železné hory from the Czech Republic had some local and international events where they presented the Danube GeoTour, our objectives and outputs. They had an Open Day in September at their Geopark office. Interactive presentation of the project and the partners took place as well as tasting of the local GeoProducts. A kids corner attracted the topic Geology to the youth. Our partner also attended the so called GeoTour Conference in Banská Hodruša in Slovakia in October. The outputs of workpackage 3, Geoparks with(out) limits, have been presented as well as the development of GeoProducts.

Hateg COUNTRY Geopark in Romania: Successful Events

Also our Romanian partner was active concerning the visibility of our Danube GeoTour. The Geoproducts developed by the Hateg Country UNESCO Geopark, managed by the University of Bucharest, were brought to the attention of the public participating in the second edition of the Creative Traditions Forum. The participants had the opportunity to understand and find out more about the geoproducts developed by Hateg Geopark. Furthermore, a presentation at the Geopark's Volcano Day took palce. The Volcano Day is the most important yearly educational event organized by Hațeg Country UNESCO Geopark and its partners. More than 250 children and adults participated to the activities. The event was a very good opportunity to capitalise the Interreg Danube GeoTour project and the Strategy of tourism pressures on geo-heritage of the Danube region geoparks.
