Welcome to our first newsletter!

The Amazon of Europe Bike Trail project has been officially kicked-off in November, just in time for our first newsletter. Our project aims to establish a flagship tourism product in the planned 5-country UNESCO Biosphere Reserve »Mura-Drava-Danube« that will span through Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia, and Serbia.

Interesting times are in front of us, and we hope you will join us on our journey!

FIRST STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING

Lienz, Austria – We kicked-off our project partnership and workplan at our Steering committee meeting back in July. This was an opportunity to discuss expectations for the project and define an outline of future project workplan. Furthermore, it was a great opportunity to experience existing successful tourism products on two study trips: a short hike along the Alpe-Adria hiking trail and a cycling trip along the part of existing Drava Bike Trail from Italy to Austria.

PHOTO COMPETITION SUCCESS

In August we entered the DTP Photo Competition and became one of the finalists. As a result, we have the privilege to share our photo with you in form of a postcard that you will be able to get on many Danube Transnational Programme promotional events!

PUBLIC KICK-OFF IN VELIKA POLANA

Velika Polana, Slovenia – On 9th November 2018 we officially kicked-off our project in Velika Polana. It was a part of a cross-project event organized in partnership with coop MDD project. Apart from the plenary sessions on biosphere reserves, their potential and management, the 3-day event included an Symbolic Kick-off, enactment of the planned Amazon of Europe Bike Trail, a study tour, and an International Market of Opportunities. It was indeed a festival of possibilities and collaboration, a strong start of an exciting project.

If you are interested in our enactment of the bike trail, we have prepared a short video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl3dgvs0Vzo to make you fell like you were there.
