The digital transformation of work is in progress. It will tremendously change the whole nature of work and employment on several dimensions. The digitalization re-shapes established job-roles and workforce-skills. To be able to interact in a digitalized working environment, workers have to acquire basic computer knowledge and develop data-related skills like data monitoring, analysis, and diagnostics, while machinery operation and physical strength will be of decreasing importance.

It is important that people realise how digital transformation of work might profit considerably from understanding the perspective and needs of people 50+.

People 50+ have different skills and competences compared with other generations. Without their participation in working life, a shortage of professional, structural and networking capacities will arise. Also, the transfer of their tacit (silent) knowledge to younger generations is important. The strongest combination of competences in the workplace is based on the different strengths of different generations. 

Better and longer work careers of people 50+ are urgently needed. eDigiStars aims to support them to remain active and ensure that Danube macro-region society benefits from their strengths and talents.

As a solution we created an innovative ecosystem, which provides a complete training program from selection of participants to certification. Our ecosystem is based on three tools:

• POWERYOU tool – how to reach elderlies and their change mindset that they can learn and scale up their digital career
• CAMPUS tool – how to adapt training courses to the needs of elderly
• LABEL tool – how to build trust and prove elderlies competences to employers

 Let`s start with the first one – the POWERYOU tool!

The POWERYOU Tool aims to support Labour Offices and NGOs or associations working with seniors to build awareness and motivate elderlies with employability difficulties to become digital employees or entrepreneurs. We want to show to adults, as well as to institutions, that people at the age of 50+ are a reliable, important and competitive workforce.

To demonstrate impact and usefulness of the System, pilots will be initiated in all 8 partner countries. First, with the help of POWERYOU Tool, 40 unemployed seniors will be engaged and selected in each territory. Among the selected seniors there must be representatives of MINORITIES, MIGRANTS and those who become unemployed due to the recent pandemic. The engaged seniors will raise their awareness about digital carriers. For this purpose eDigitStars will explain the importance of digital skills and show possible paths for digital development of already existing business, as well as new job opportunities. What is more, inspirational stories from the Danube macro region and stories about successful elderly people from our partnership countries aim to motivate adults and make them believe in their own strengths.

The POWERYOU Tool will motivate elderly to become part of eDigiStars team through:

• Presentations of eDigiStars innovative system and its benefits
• Tools and approaches for selection procedures and building digital careers such as writing applications, interviews etc.
•  A map of support – institutions and  stakeholders who can support “digital career ecosystem map in Danube area”
