Development Association NERDA (BiH), in close cooperation with Innovation Technology Cluster - ITC (Slovenia), is implementing one of the Local Action Plans of Danube S3 Cluster project. The focus of this LAP is on Open innovations in Agro-food sector and the objective to propose innovative solutions to problems that the agricultural producers and food processors are facing.

Four project ideas are being implemented within this LAP:

Education of agricultural producers and processors for implementation of HACCP, IFS and HALAL standard – with the aim to train and prepare agricultural producers and companies for the process of standardization that will help them to adopt new technologies and processes.

Precise agriculture demonstration project – the aim is to to provide producers and service providers with practical recommendations to realize the potential benefits of this new technology.

Establishment of the exemplary robotic or automatic milking system (AMS) – with the aim to establish one experimental system that would be overseen by the members of academia and R&D to show the farmers all the benefits and potential downside effects of the AMS.

Production of fibrous cellulose packaging for the packaging of agricultural products in innovative, environmentally friendly, and degradable packaging in response to the Covid-19 pandemic – with the aim to is to mitigate the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic by developing innovative packaging for agricultural products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, which are distributed in supermarkets and other market channels.

Affirmation of new dietary guidelines, adapted to pandemic conditions – with an aim to create and promote a new dietary guide that will stress the importance to consume seasonal foods throughout a year to boost T cells in the body, which are type of lymphocytes and play a central role in the immune response.

Several meetings have been successfully organized to bring these project ideas into life and to start the cooperation between stakeholders, which may lead to innovative approaches in engaging agricultural sector. The results of project ideas are intended to be disseminated to other interested stakeholders, either through Danube S3 Cluster or through communication channels of Development Association NERDA.
