AgriGo4Cities - Green Infrastructure for Sustainable Urban Planning

Dr. Jernej Tiran attended the international workshop Green Infrastructure for Sustainable Urban Planning, organized by Centre for Environmental Research and Impact Studies, Faculty of Geography – University of Bucharest and Society for Urban Ecology – South East Europe Chapter. The workshop was held in Bucharest from 6th to 9th July 2017.

The workshop was aiming to represent a platform of debates which will help scientists, public administration and other stakeholders exchange experiences on the use of green Infrastructure in the sustainable planning of cities. It proved to be successful as 20 participants from 11 countries presented and discussed a range of aspects, benefits and possible approaches of researching green infrastructure.

Jernej Tiran presented a paper Urban agriculture as a tool to promote sustainable urban development: preliminary results of AgriGo4Cities project (co-author: Dr. Jani Kozina), in which he presented the results from the Inventory questionnaire, and emphasized the importance of urban agriculture for achieving livable and resilient cities, as urban agriculture is able to tackle many spatial and societal challenges.
