03-05-2017
On May 9 – 11th, 2017, the Faculty of Architecture, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (FASTU) organised a workshop in Komárno connecting the Danube heritage. The workshop program contained the field research of the town cultural potential (during the first day), and the meeting of the stakeholders, project partners, and municipality representatives in the town hall (on the second day). Five researchers and five students took part.
The participants´ main task of the DANUrB´s field research was to search for and mark public places and architectural heritage sites, that according to the methodology of the heritage selection and valorization were potentially important or had some problems. This activity also helped the doctoral students to prepare themselves for teaching of the Urban Planning Studio and The Monuments Renovation Studio. The identification of cultural- historic potential and discovering unexplored heritage pave the way for urban development and tourism industry in this city, as well.
On the next day, after mapping the cultural and historic potential (values) of the town, all members of field research attended the very fruitful meeting with municipality´s representatives in the town hall. The mayor of Komárno introduced the future plans for the town development and one of its most interesting heritage sites, the fortress. The partners from the Faculty of Architecture presented their previous research results within the fortress and some specific sites and monuments suitable for future research. The discussion focused on selection of localities which were found to be urgent to solve, and areas with cultural and historic potential. The research helped to create a map of selected important spaces with their detailed photo documentation.
