DANUrB - On-site research trip, Esztergom - Štúrovo

06-04-2017

As part of Danube Transnational Programme´s Danube Urban Brand project, students from the Faculty of Architecture (ÉPK) of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, made a trip to Esztergom and Štúrovo on February 11, 2017. Guided by researchers from the Urban Planning and Design Department (Melinda Benkő, Bálint Kádár, Sándor Pálfy, Dániel Balizs) the participating students got an insight into the architectural and cultural heritage of Štúrovo and Esztergom.

For many years, representatives from ÉPK have been in a professional cooperation with the Municipality of Esztergom so they were able to relay to the students the most important and interesting facts about the challenges the city is facing. Such research trips and their outputs are crucial for understanding the connection between the Danube River and the communities on both banks of the river that also acts as a natural state border in order to move forward with the DANUrB project. The City of Štúrovo was introduced by representatives of the Municipality of Štúrovo, one of the 20 project partners (ERDF PP15 – Eugen Szabó, Gabriel Radošický). The meeting was also a good opportunity to discuss the preparation of the upcoming Danube Day and the students´ workshop which will be held in June 27 - 30, 2017.
