12-02-2019

On the 25th of January the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences organized a national kick-off event for all Austrian stakeholders to inform them about the Danube Floodplain project.

Different Stakeholders were presenting important topics related to the aim of the project. This included presentations about the big flood in 2013 in lower and upper Austria, the floods directive in Austria, ecological and flood risk topics, available hydrodynamic models in Austria, as well as the ecological importance of the national park "Donauauen" which is one of the main floodplains in Austria.

After the introduction of the Danube Floodplain project by the BOKU team, the attendees were separated into two groups (one related to hydrological aspects and one related to ecological aspects) to discuss and identify the reconnection potential and the possibility of ecological improvements along the Austrian Danube.
