ARCHEODANUBE - Symposium - invitation

06-10-2022

Dear Sir and Madam,

The consortium of the project Archeodanube is delighted to invite you to the symposium The past made present: public archaeology and archaeological tourism for young generations.

Public archaeology is about how to engage the public in archaeology as an audience, as stakeholders, and as equal partners. This should also include new approaches for young people. The conference will focus on different good practices and other examples on how to engage and include the wider audience, and especially young people, into developing a more accessible and sustainable archaeological tourism in cities

ARCHEODANUBE project - Archaeological Park in urban areas as a tool for Local Sustainable Development - helps small/medium cities in Danube regions to improve the effectiveness of heritage sites' management with a focus on archaeological parks as innovative tools in the urban parts of the cities for the preservation and sustainable use of cultural heritage and resources with synergies for the development of archaeotourism. The project will improve and intensify cooperation among relevant actors in DTP in order to preserve, support and valorize cultural heritage through archaeological parks as products in cities for the development of archeotourism. The project paves the way for the preparation of concrete plans, training, tools for preservation and presentation and concreates small pilots, for improving the effectiveness of heritage sites management in support implementation of new initiatives in tourism (archeotourism).

VENUE: The Dominican Monastery (Muzejski trg 1, 2250 PTUJ) has preserved its medieval architecture, with baroque features added at the end of the 17th and beginning of 18th centuries. The friars lived in the monastery until its dissolution in 1785, when the military moved in. In 1928, museum collections were exhibited on the ground floor, and restoration started in 2011. The Renovated parts of the monastery serve as a venue for cultural events and are open to visitors.
