ART NOUVEAU - ART NOUVEAU Kick-off Conference in Vienna on 7th of March

11-09-2017

The MAK – Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art as hosting partner, and the Municipality of Oradea as Lead Partner, in the name of the entire partnership, have the pleasure to invite you to the kick-off event of the ART NOUVEAU project, on 7th of March in Vienna.

Throughout the Danube region, the architectural heritage of Art Nouveau is a defining feature of many urban landscapes. The goal of the project ART NOUVEAU is to make more efficient use of this rich cultural heritage’s potential both for tourism and for local people and thus preserve it for the long term.

Through cooperation between 12 cultural, scientific, monumental preservation, public administrations and urban planning institutions from Romania, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Belgium, the project aims to make a significant contribution to the transfer of know-how and expertise necessary for protecting and promoting the Danube region’s Art Nouveau heritage.

Including expert knowledge from a wide range of disciplines is crucial for the project’s optimal realization. By networking different areas of expertise and obtaining scientific input from individual specialists, the project aims to guarantee that our Art Nouveau heritage receives the best professional care. This international exchange will be initiated by a symposium in Vienna on the 7th of March 2017.

Within this event, the debates will be organized along four working groups dedicated to four areas of interest targeted by the project:

  1. Strategies to protect and promote the Danube region’s Art Nouveau architectural heritage
  2. Restoring Art Nouveau buildings
  3. Art Nouveau architecture in the context of urban planning
  4. Digital documentation

In the next two-and-a-half years, these topics will be further discussed and elaborated by participating experts from relevant fields and will be complemented by a series of other activities all targeted towards achieving the goals of the project.

Hereby we would like to invite the interested participants to the opening symposium in Vienna, hosted at the premises of one of the project partners MAK–Austrian Museum of Applied Arts / Contemporary Art, located in Stubenring 5, 1010 Vienna, Austria.
