CD SKILLS - Analysis of the current state of art in the management of celiac disease in the Danube region

28-11-2021

Partners of the CD SKILLS project invited healthcare professionals and celiac disease patients from the Danube region to participate in 4 web-based surveys developed within the project. More than 3000 participants provided valuable data.

Preliminary analysis of health records of 254 celiac disease patients showed that a no-biopsy approach recommended by European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) is followed in high proportion in all involved countries and is reaching 70% in the Danube region. This proportion is much higher than the one found five years ago within the Focus IN CD project conducted in the Central Europe (21%) and shows a major change in celiac disease management in the region.
