AgriGo4Cities - Presented at the international conference "Participatory Approaches and Danube Region Strategy – National Participation Day in the Czech Republic"

AgriGo4Cities project was presented at the international conference "Participatory Approaches and Danube Region Strategy – National Participation Day in the Czech Republic" organised by The Ministry of Regional Development in the Czech Republic and held in Prague, on 30th of May 2017.

The conference focused on the importance of civil society participation in Strategic Planning and Multi-level Governance within the Danube Region Strategy. Therefore, the role of civil society and local actors in the Macro Regional Strategies is seen by the national and international representatives as a key aspect for enhancing the citizen’s trust in political systems at all levels, for developing the macro regions and European identity and for creating better living conditions.

The speakers specified that by respecting the principles of participation, subsidiarity and transparency, participative approaches in the decision-making processes and implementation became a crucial step towards better understanding of local challenges, the development of suitable policies, and reducing costs of policy implementation at all levels.

An introduction to Danube Region Strategy was held, developing the four pillars of it, the management strategy, the organisation and role of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) and the tools for implementing it.

After sharing experiences and recommendations for Priority Area 10 of the Danube Region Strategy through a panel discussion, a presentation of Czech organisations and the projects they participate in within the frame of the Danube Region Strategy was held.

Mgr. Martin Synkule talked about Urban gardening as an example of participatory approach to decision-making in Danube region and presented the idea and aims of AgriGo4Cities project and the benefits that will be brought for the Danube region through this project.
