CD SKILLS - Lecture about Celiac Disease and project promotion at the Celiacs’ Association of the Czech Republic annual meeting

The General University Hospital in Prague cooperates with the Celiacs’ Association of the Czech Republic - a patient organization helping and assisting people diagnosed with celiac disease. One of the activities of this organization is an annual nationwide meeting that takes place every year at the occasion of International Celiac Disease Day. The participants of the event are not only the celiac patients, but also doctors and other experts, people with gluten allergy or people only interested in the topic. The aim of the event is to raise awareness about celiac disease: programme for health care providers takes place to promote and inform about new findings and progress in diagnostics, research and treatment of celiac disease; another part of the programme is presentation of new gluten-free products available in the Czech Republic etc.
Due to covid-19 restrictions in the Czech Republic this meeting was postponed from the usual date and took place on September 4, 2021 in Emauzy Abbey in Prague. In total, 1621 participants attended the event.
The participants were given some of the promotion materials of CD Skills project - cotton bags with mascot BU and project logo filled with samples of the gluten free products and information materials, including CD Skills Brochure for Patients.
Dr. Peter Szitányi had a presentation “Celiac Disease in children and CD SKILLS project”, which was focused on specifics and up-to-date medical achievements in treatment and diagnostics of CD in children and included also a presentation of CD SKILLS project, its goals, current state of activities and achievements. The participants of this lecture were asked to sign a special attendance list, which is enclosed (179 participants attended the presentation). CD Skills Brochures for patients and for doctors were distributed to participants of the meeting in congress bag or upon request.
