Amazon of Europe Bike Trail - Meet the Project Partners - Regional Development Agency of Slavonia and Baranja ltd for international and regional cooperation

Public Institution County Development Agency of Osijek-Baranya County (CDA OBC) was established with the aim of effective coordination and encouragement of regional development for the area of Osijek-Baranya county.

As a regional coordinator, our task is to develop a county development strategy and other strategic and development documents for the county area and to provide expert assistance in the preparation and implementation of support programs for public bodies governed by public law and public institutions from the region of Osijek-Baranja County that are founded by the Republic of Croatia or the Osijek-Baranja County, in the preparation and implementation of development projects of interest for the development of the county, and especially the projects co-financed by the Structural and Investment Funds of the European Union.

The following cycling routes are passing through the area of Osijek-Baranja County:

  • Drava bike route (part of EuroVelo 13 - Route of the Iron Curtain and Corridor 1 of the main cyclo-touristic routes of the Republic of Croatia)
  • Route Danube (part of EuroVelo 6 - Atlantic - Black Sea and Corridor 9)
  • Pannonian Peace Trail

Amazon of Europe Bike Trail project is important due to development of good neighborly relations with other countries in the region, and beyond. The Osijek-Baranja County is rich in attractive natural and cultural facilities that represent the ideal destination for cyclists.

The most attractive feature is the wealth and preservation of nature: 

  • Kopački rit Nature Park, a large wetland area with a variety of plant and animal species and the Ornithological Reserve of Podpanj,
  • Various landscapes and reliefs in a small area,
  • Enchanting forests, vineyards and wine roads,
  • Rich gastronomic offer; from traditional dishes, cured meats, cheeses and sweets to the top-quality wines and brandy,
  • Numerous cultural, historical and ethnological sites (castles, remains of medieval fortresses, restored ethno-houses and domains, museums and permanent exhibitions),
  • Long tradition of cycling among the local population,
  • and last but not least, friendly and hospitable people!
