EcoInn Danube - A modern root wastewater treatment plant

19-04-2019

The group of scientists and students of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, within the spin-off company ConWe, wants to focus mainly on the research and construction of modern root plants. In addition to property owners, they also want to offer their services to smaller municipalities. For example, they have already had a successful research project in Dražovice, where one of the most modern root wastewater treatment plants in the Czech Republic will be built by the end of 2018.

According to Miroslava Pumprlová Němcová, such a device is suitable for any household. “The only major limitation is the area that the treatment plant occupies. Usually our plants do not require electricity. Most purification processes are therefore much slower than in conventional wastewater treatment plants, so a larger area is needed, “said Pumprlová Němcová, adding that the purified water can be used for flushing the toilet or watering the garden.
The cost of the root wastewater treatment plants is like other types of wastewater treatment plants, based on ConWe founders. “Operation of root treatment plant is cheaper. When someone wants to build it alone, then it is of course even cheaper,” added Michal Kriška Dunajský. Subsequent maintenance is minimal. “Just check once a week if everything is all right. One or two times a year the sludge from the septic tank is exported, “he said.
