The Municipality of Apatin is located in West-Bačka District, in the middle of the Danube River – on 1401th km. It covers an area of 380 square kilometres and has 28.929 inhabitants. Apatin lies on the pan-European Corridor 7, while Corridors 10, 5 and 4 are all nearby, which makes Apatin a very accessible municipality.

Municipality of Apatin, as public service of citizens, takes care of the improvement of economic, ecological and social capacities in the area where the inhabitants of the municipality will be able to lead a healthy, productive and enjoyable life.

Why the Municipality is cooperating in the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail project: "the project is important for Municipality of Apatin because the AoE Bike Trail brand will generate economic benefits for the local population, connect them with the Biosphere Reserve and protected natural areas, as well as provide a great opportunity to promote the Apatin municipality area."

Area of the Municipality of Apatin covers part of the Special Nature Reserve "Upper Danube", which is located along the Danube river, and is a true ecological and tourist jewel. Apatin has 250 categorized beds in private accommodation, swimming pools, football and tennis courts, sports halls, bowling alleys, bicycle and rowing trails, camps, many small restaurants and taverns.

Apatin also has the first international Marina in Serbia, which has 400 berths (120 especially made for yachts). In addition to this facility, the Municipality has a Port for passenger ships, which is currently under reconstruction.
