An international scientific conference devoted to information and intelligent systems titled CECIIS 2018 was held on 19th September 2018 at the Faculty of Organization and Informatics in Varaždin (FOI), Croatia.

Digital transformation was this year’s main theme. The lecturers were two worldwide experts on the subject:

Professor Dimitris Karagiannis, head of a research group dealing with knowledge engineering at the University of Vienna, delivered a presentation on "The impact of digitization on industry: a research perspective" and
Professor Dieter Hertweck of Herman Hollerith of the Reutlingen University Research Center in Germany held a presentation on "The Digital Transformation in the Manufacturing Sector - Challenges and Chances for SMEs".

They are both partners in the DIGITRANS project and their appearance at the conference showed that FOI international scientific conference CECIIS is also an opportunity for meeting and networking and creating new business opportunities.

During the conference, an info desk has been organized where conference participants could get more information about the activities at the DIGITRANS project.
