AgriGo4Cities - Good urban agriculture practice in Ljubljana

06-12-2017

In  Ljubljana the cooperation between tenants and owner of gardens, through which
older people with low incomes have the chance to rent them, is giving birth to a successfull practice in the field of urban agriculture. More precisely, food self-sufficiency and recreation are assured using only plant protection and fertilizing agents allowed by the regulations for organic production on the gardens.
As a result the food grown on smaller areas encourages the intergenerational cooperation, increasing social inclusion and representing a valid alternative for the socially weak urban population, while young people are also increasingly expressing the desire for quality and healthy food and to have leisure time with gardening.
