EcoInn Danube - Energy for the Future - Energy 4.0 Conference in Brussels

University of Žilina, Technical University of Ostrava, Politechnika Śląska, Permanent Representation of the Slovak Republic to the EU in Brussels and the Slovak Liaison Office of the Slovak Republic for Research and Development in Brussels are jointly organizing a conference on "Energy for the Future: Energy 4.0" on October 11, 2017. The event is under the auspices of the Member of the European Parliament Mr. Ivan Štefanec.
Digitisation is affecting more and more industries. While energy has been a key in the industrial revolution so far, not all parts of the energy industry may have yet fully realised how much the current digital industrial revolution will be transforming the energy sector-the sector that faces its own transformation to a system which should deliver secure, sustainable, competitive and affordable energy to all European consumers. The debate will be focused on the question how energy efficiency, future electrical energy for the future, energy sources utilization, intelligent buildings, energy management and ICT in energy applications can be used. The speakers will present their opinion on the future of energy sector and how it can be influenced by Energy 4.0. They will also present their research activities and real applications development focused on Energy 4.0 target areas.
The identified challenges (IT security issues, protection of industrial know - how, lack of adequate skill - sets, and threat of redundancy of the corporate IT department) will be mentioned. Representatives of the industry and SMEs are invited to contribute to discussion on topical issues such as the need for more qualified employees, new jobs created in the energy sector and the cooperation with the academic world.
