LENA - Local capacity buliding workshop in Hungary

The aim of the workshop was to conduct work with local stakeholders to better understand the current market situation and to identify current needs and challenges of wild plant harvest in the region.
After György Pálinkás, the Mayor of Beregdaróc welcomed the participants, Kirsten Palme introduced the goals, activities and the partnership of project LENA. 
Following the introduction, Sarolta Ebesfalvi and Béla Habarics, representatives of Hortobágy National Park Directorate presented the institutional system of nature protection, as well as provided a short overview of the pilot area related to the local activities.
György Pálnikás introduced the present and future of Beregdaróc which is strongly connected to the opportunities provided by the wild plant sector. The training on ecological and social principles of FairWild Standard was held by Kirsten Palme, presenting a new approach to the participants. 
The group exercise and discussion was really successful, providing important inputs for the next steps of the pilot actions, as well as for the studies currently under elabroation.
The study trip took on the second day provided us an impression of the natural and cultural heritage of Szatmár-Bereg, and helped us to better understand the importance of green jobs in this rural area, and with it the importance of project LENA.
