WALK AND SMILE WITH US: CITYWALK'S WALK'N'SMILE APP NOW AVAILABLE 

 
 

The Walk'n'Smile app developed in the scope of the CityWalk project is now available to the public. It was created with the goal of increasing the number of people choosing walking over the use of motorized vehicles by making walking more fun. The app is based on a traditional pedometer (the app requires Google Fit app to count the steps) and supplements it with various exciting functions – awards based on the number of steps, funny photos, calories calculator, and city walkability evaluation survey.

Partners learn about walkability improvements in pilsen

 
 

Partners from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia gathered at the multilateral meeting of the project partners. The meeting took place in Pilsen, Czech Republic on 27 – 28 November 2018 and was hosted by Regional Development Agency of the Pilsen Region. The main goal of the meeting was to do an overview of the thematic work packages and walkability planning in the regions involved in the project.

DAY WITHOUT CARS IN VARAŽDIN

 
 

The city of Varaždin has been included, as the official partner within the CityWalk project, to mark the European Mobility Week which took place from 16th to 22nd September this year. The central event of marking was the Day without a car in Varaždin (September 22nd 2018). On this occasion the traffic in the city centre has been closed for all motor vehicles. For one day Varaždin city centre was open only for pedestrians and cyclists.

szeged's biggest smile

 
 

Hungarian project partners from RRI.HU - Felelősségteljes Innováció Egyesület organised a local walking action, on 16th of October 2018, in Szeged. 140 students participated in the creation of Szeged's biggest smile at the Dóm Square. The action of the students of the Szeged Kossuth Lajos Primary School students joined the SZTE GTK Smile Project and the City Walk "Smile on Your Town" initiative.

citywalk wins the dtp photo competition

 
 

On 31st of August, the voting for DTP Photo Competition contributions concluded. The CityWalk project entered the competition with three photos of which two were very successful in the public voting. The »Walk'n'Smile« photo was voted the winner, both in the public vote and by the DTP Photo Competition jury. The second photo to be voted into the top 20 was the »Walking the CityWalk Roads« photo which was voted to 17th place. As top 20 photographs, both photos have been printed on postcards to be distributed at many events related to Interreg project activities.
