Dear readers, 

Our 30 months voyage under the flag of Danube SKILLS is coming to an end… it’s been a long passage, with many hardships and equal number of great moments of fulfilment and satisfaction when successfully overcoming together in a kindred spirit and urged by a common mission the obstacles we met. We leave behind, consistent with the commitment made at project start, a long list of project results which we hope will contribute to future integration of Danube navigation into modern transport solutions and to building a strong dedicated education and training system helping newcomers to embrace attractive and challenging careers in the inland navigation sector. Before bidding you farewell we thank you for your steady constant support all these years and kindly invite you to follow us on the project website, Twitter and Facebook for latest news on project final event on 13th June in Budapest!

Danube SKILLS efforts towards increased capacity building of the private sector 

Based on knowledge and skills acquired during the Train the trainer sessions and the findings and recommendations of the evaluation report partners organized and executed in the national language of each partner, between October 2018 and February 2019, in all project countries countries (DE, AT, SK, HR, HU, RS, BG, RO) pilot training actions for each of the two transnational model courses Safety practices in emergency situations during ship operation – Operational level and Human resource management and social responsibility on board – Management level.     

Joint Danube SKILLS – CESNI International event 

CERONAV had the privilege of hosting on 8 May in Bucharest, Romania the joint event Danube SKILLS - the European committee for drawing up standards in the field of inland navigation (CESNI). Organized under the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the Hall of Human Rights of the prestigious Palace of Parliament building the event gathered over 50 experts from 14 CESNI Member States, the European Commission, the river commissions, the social partners as well as partners in the Danube SKILLS project.            

Pilot National workshop in Budapest, Hungary 

On May 9, RSOE - with the support of viadonau – organized the Danube SKILLS national workshop with the participation of numerous sector representatives from Hungary and Austria. More than 30 interested business representatives came to Győr-Gönyű, not only to get to know the updated and newly developed information on Danube logistics, but also to get to know the steel factory of Wuppermann. Wuppermann Hungary provided a glimpse behind the (logistics) scenes as part of an exciting visit of the production and logistics halls. The participants could also experience live an ongoing water-sided transshipment of steel coils.

Pilot testing of Danube Logistics Promotion Centre- DLPC in Serbia    

Port Governance Agency (PGA) organized on 25 March 2019 in Belgrade the national workshop "Presentation of the Danube Logistics Promotion Centre’’. The participants of the workshop included the most relevant stakeholders from the public and private sector, such as representatives of the Directorate for Inland Waterways, School for  Shipping, Shipbuilding and Hydrobuilding, logistic service providers, port operators and cargo owners.
